The author is a man who has suffered a considerable mental illness dating back forty years and continues to suffer from significant physical health problems. He has written fourteen books in the last ten or so years and they contain his perspective on modern life and society. His life has taken him through the army, prison, mental hospital, education and industry and is now seeing the demise of a long mental illness. He has a partner, Jane, who he has been close to for the last sixteen years and a family who live in Wales.
