The Book of Living and Dying was written during a lengthy hospitalization after a suicide attempt. It is divided into four parts, one hallucinatory, one descriptive and lyrical, one bittersweet and bordering on hopeless, dealing with a mother’s chronic depression, a brother’s schizophrenia and a father’s alzheimer’s, and a fourth part dealing with an impossible love affair.

About the Author

Laura Hargrove Schneilin is a lecturer in English and American literature and civilization at the Sorbonne and the Open University in Paris. She is a specialist in Shakespearean studies.She has lived and studied in several countries, and is thinking of resettling in England or the United States.

It bloodied the perfect
