Playing Snooker With Lucifer is the third volume of Michael Black’s mental health memoirs to be published by Chipmunkapublishing, after Angels, Cleopatra And Psychosis (2009) and Leonardo, Romancia And Ra (also 2009). It will be followed by the fourth and final volume, Breakfast With Gabriel And The Sun God Ra, to be published during 2014.
Playing Snooker With Lucifer tells the continuing story of Michael and his spirits attempts to take over the world whilst confined on psychiatric wards, and in particular deals with their time on the low secure unit Dane Ward, in Macclesfield, Cheshire, 2003-2005. During this period, the new Royal Family of Leonardo, Michelangelo, Beethoven, Géricault and Delacroix et al, plus Michael’s female angels, is established, as Michael manages to psychologically take over the ward one Christmas.
The charismatic Cleopatra also makes an appearance, as she does in the first two books, and the Sun God Ra appears as well, to ordain Michael as the new world King. Prominent Nazis also turn up, revealed as devils themselves. And yes, Michael does get to play snooker with Lucifer…
About the Author

He is a long standing critic of UK NHS psychiatric treatments, and believes spiritual reality is more important than the temporal.

Risen Christ
The month of November is always dark and gloomy in England, but after the end with Anna the November of 2003 was particularly dark.
I went to work. I went through the motions. I felt dreadful.
And all the time I knew that my real and final argument with God was looming up on me. Throughout the month I was fighting perpetual risen Christ delusions. They could occur at any time, working on a computer, driving a car, delivering a pizza. “You are Christ” a voice inside my head would say, “you are the risen Lord come to deliver the faithful at the end of time”. And I would carry on doing whatever I was doing trying to ignore the voice but knowing I needed new strategies and help to succeed. “I am Michael Black” I would say repeatedly to myself, “I am not the risen Christ”, but I knew from experience how overwhelmingly powerful the voice of God can be and so far I also knew He was just playing games with me.
Aurelia was the only one of the Harem around to comfort me and her comfort was cold comfort indeed. Every time a risen Christ delusion occurred at home Aurelia would put a crown of thorns on my head and tell me I was.
“I am not the risen Christ”, I would tell her, pulling off the crown of thorns and throwing it to the ground
“You are my risen Christ darling, and you will understand”, Aurelia would reply.
It happened several times, each time my frustration growing with her. I even accused Aurelia of being stupid, and lost patience with her.
But Aurelia said something else as well.
“When you kill God”, she said, “tell Him He is God forever. It is the only way. If God knows He is dying He will destroy us all first. Remember this my darling, and you are still my risen Christ. I will be there for you when you are forced to believe it yourself”
