Description

In this book, Carrie’s writings embody this mystery of our
lives as a living paradox. Her keen insight into what it is to
be human holds the dialectic tension of this struggle in
balance; just as you find yourself hurtling down a cul de sac
of the impossible and a full stop, you realise that the full stop
is actually a comma!

About the Author

Carrie was treated with electro-convulsive therapy after asking for
gender confirmation surgery at the age of 17. She ran away from
a large mental hospital having been put on anti-psychotic medication
and offered aversion ‘therapy’. Accepting medical misinformation
that an ulcerative condition ruled out ever being able to
have corrective surgery, she embraced her fate which more than
returned her embrace with beautiful children, lifelong love, a successful
career in the NHS in mental health, and wonderful friends.
She has had books and academic papers and book chapters published
and sat for some years as an independent member on the
editorial board of the United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy.
But all that is mere blah compared to the deep and true existential
happiness she gets from the magic of relating to and with others.
