Description
I love Middlewich.
Although I live in Sandbach I went to Middlewich Comprehensive/High School from 1984 to 1989.
It was a good five years that I really enjoyed because it is a great school to learn and do things and achieve.
After school I became very interested in the town, joined the Heritage Society and found out about many relevant things.
This book is about my personal views of Middlewich, including my memories of school and my involvement in a Roman dig.
I mention going to the town in our own canal boat.
I have mentioned some other history, especially the central role the canals and the salt industry have played in the town and some information about the modern town.
About the Author
Tim Price was affected by lack of oxygen when he was born in 1973. He was first diagnosed with a mental health problem in 1990, it was called Depression. This was shortly after leaving school and entering Further Education.
People can develop several different kinds of mental health issues or problems; they may need the experience of medical staff in hospitals like the Priory, Leighton, Macclesfield or other Mental Health Units.
Tim later discovered, with the help of the late Dr Lorna Wing, that he had Asperger’s Syndrome.
This was early in 1994.
He received help from staff with experience of mental health problems.
The mental health team found appropriate accommodation for Tim. He receives help from carers every week.
Recovery took a long time with help from hospitals, carers from the Mental Health Unit, his friends and family.
He has already had three books published by Chipmunkapublishing called “How to Improve Mental Health” which describes the practical and other activities that he has achieved, since he began to get better, “My Insight into the Computing World” which describes how Tim has used computers over the years, to help him to learn and The Olympic Games, where he recalls the parts that he found interesting.
Tim is normally a positive, happy person and he joins in activities whenever he can.
Tim has enjoyed sport all his life, including the Olympic Games, and supporting various sporting events whenever he can.

Sport
Sport is enjoyed by the people of Middlewich. Football is played by Middlewich Town (used to be called Middlewich Athletic) the first team plays in the Cheshire League, division one.
I was hoping Middlewich Town would play my local team, Sandbach United but in May 2014 Sandbach were prompted to the premier division whilst Middlewich were relegated to division one. Perhaps next year?
There is also Middlewich Cricket Club who play in the Cheshire County League, division one with lots of junior teams as well.
Other sports, such as bowls and snooker, are enjoyed by different people from the town and the surrounding areas.
My Uncle Tom used to play crown green bowls for Middlewich ICI before he moved to Cornwall (where he continued to play on the flat greens). He was a very good bowler who played for Cheshire and Cornwall.
There is a Leisure Centre at the High School which provides facilities for badminton, children’s birthday parties, indoor football, fitness suite. My dad has umpired hockey on the floodlit all weather pitch. Group fitness classes, multipurpose sports hall, netball, Tae Kwon Do. This centre is very important for encouraging people to take part in different activities. Exercise is good for our physical and mental health and it is good to see that such facilities are available for all ages in Middlewich.
