About the Author

Karen Clements was born in the West Midlands and spent her early years in the Cotswolds their undulating beauty adding to her early inspiration. She moved to West Cornwall at the age of eleven and found further wild amazing influences that opened the gateway to her writing. From then on she wrote poetry, embracing all aspects of not only her environment but also collaborating inspiration from her life’s experiences. Because of the effect of her journey she chose a healing profession incorporating several complementary therapies that have drawn from her life’s wisdom. She continues to shine her light and is an inspiration to all who cross her path enabling people to reach their own self empowerment.

She continues to express herself with her writing working along with disadvantaged people in local deprived areas and schools, making it possible for them through the wonderful power of words to reach their full potential often changing the perception of themselves thus facilitating a positive change for good!

Karen has now collected impressions throughout her life in book form and has presented them together in this publication called “Into the Light”.

SELF-DOUBT

The fear rains down like a shower on life’s window pane,
Each drop an intrinsic part in the scheme of blame.
The feelings muted with absence of voice to speak,
Delve inward to break down the spirit, to strip strength from the weak.

Our hearts have no choice in the outworking of time.
Just awaiting the judgement, each stands in their line.
Our sinful souls, never to reach acceptance,
Stand accused, even though every fibre begs repentance.

For standards are made not with understanding of life,
Unreachable to most in this world full of strife.
Oh, mercy, where are you for all to see?
Understanding rather than judgement there needs to be!

So that guilt can fade with its destructive power,
Let security blossom like a desert flower.
So when the fear rains down on life’s window pane,
The doubt in ourselves is never to blame!

LIFE’S PEACEFUL RESTING PLACE

Fluidity entrances and enrages,
As time encapsulates thought.
As we try to make sense and reason,
Of life’s entangled web.
A celebration indeed,
Each moment is created to be,
A translucent vision,
Seen through innocent eyes.
Forging through time,
Always longing to focus on truth,
As falsehood emerges,
With its powerful hindrance.
Then turmoil retreats quietly
To peaceful resting places,
Crisis evaporates and filters
Silently through life’s gentle breeze.
And a troubled mind is, at last, at peace!
