Is Pakistan now ready to endorse Benazir Bhutto`s ideals and take the country onwards so as to engage with other developed nations bringing about a possibility of enhancing trade agreements while instituting and applying democratic rights
Then perhaps never again can it be said that there is a fight going on in Pakistan to establish democratic rights and no longer can it be said that it is a cause to die for. Doctor Rosaleen O`Brien has visited and lived in Pakistan and she hopes democracy in Pakistan can act as a paradigm for other governments to follow.
About the Author
I have been in receipt of trauma counselling since 1999 on a daily basis,at times speaking till the early hours of the morning.Support from my trauma Counsellor helps me to come to terms with accepting that what has happened to me cannot now be changed. I cannot ever forgive those who had a vicarious liability to look after me and failed. As a result of being locked away for some years all because we were poor has brought certain limitations to my day to day life. Writing is a form of therapy and allows me to be free to be the person that I want to be, and should have been my birthright. Through writing I can reach out to others who may have had such an unfortunate experience as myself . Daily flashbacks can be upsetting and I fill my life with things to do so as to block them out. Day to day life can be exhausting and coping mechanisms that I learnt in order to survive have not helped me in the outside world. God help all fellow survivors and perhaps one day Ireland will accept the terrible price we paid. Shame on all you right thinking residents in Ireland to allow the government and Catholic Church to ignore harm done to me and many others who are either dead or too ill to tell their story. Thanks to Chipmunkapublishing I have been able to confront my demons and a Big Thank you to Reatha my trauma counsellor without her I would not be here today writing about my stolen life.

Should one suggest her awareness of her
Impending fate
With no input from her at all?
One would not wish to think so
Leaving her own country to graduate
Meant that her education she would not stall
Universities abroad
Appeared attractive and appealing
Her decisions suggested
That one day she may be dealing
In affairs concerning politics
There was going to be no easy way
For guidance in her entering into the political arena
Her family they did pray
The price that she would pay was going to be high
After losing her brothers and her father
Benazir would also die
Prison sentences and death dealt a cruel blow
Her mother and herself were imprisoned in the past
To jail they were made to go
Later on Benazir`s husband never escaped either
A prison sentence he also did serve
As no charges were ever proved in a court
Many felt that this he did not deserve
Benazir saw pain and even witnessed death
Being informed that her father would face execution
Almost took away her last breath
When she last visited him she says that she did not cry
This was demanded by her father
The man about to die
What a life? What a struggle?
Was it worth it in the end?
A legacy of death surrounded the Bhuttos
Yet they themselves they did defend
Considering political life was not what she would have chosen
She says she was fulfilled
What a shame that it was performing her role in Politics
That got her killed
Some said Benazir accepted that her decisions
Left her with no regrets at all
Marrying and having children
She had listened to mother nature`s call
Her marriage she says she had not expected
But a top female politician in Pakistan
Needed to marry in order to be accepted
Showing a better side of understanding
Is what Benazir was all about
In her own country she was not always popular
Of that there is no doubt
Liberty and social justice
Were just two of her aims
Many dreams that she had have now gone up in flames
Pakistan will have lost
Benazir has now died
Democracy will be the cost
She paid with her life
With her history of family members imprisoned and killed
Why Benazir did you carry on?
Your grave should not have been filled
Benazir would have found her pregnancies difficult
Fitting in with her political life
Though she was financially better off
Than most Pakistani wives
