Description

This book is James Whitrow’s second poetry collection published by Chipmunkapublishing, like his first collection it is inspired by the intricacies of James’s voices combined with an element of the imagination.

Covering current and past issues of everyday life as well as being sheer creative and fictional writing.

The poetry, some romantic, some psychedelic and some contradictions of words create an interesting read. Enjoy.

About the Author

Born 1980 in Manchester attending art college awarding him self a place at Salford University James studied interior architecture. Since then James has developed writing abilities receiving a number of commendations, also James’s local paper wrote an article about his success describing him as Wordsmith which led to an interview prime time on BBC Radio Manchester where he discussed his illness and poetry. James was diagnosed with schizophrenia in 2001. On the radio James performed a poem which was written about schizophrenia and answered questions about how writing is a form of therapy.

James attends writers groups open mike nights, poetry festivals and has also written for businesses.

Suffering with schizophrenia is a day to day struggle for James but as he stated on the radio, “it’s just a release” meaning writing “gets it off your chest” his illness inspires him.

James wishes to thank the member of staff from Macclesfield hospital who was the first person who encouraged him to write.

IN THIS PLACE

The light in this place
Is open natural grace providing
Embrace as I chase saviour
Endeavour looking for peace,
We sit back relax then release
Some love inside rolled up
Sleeves of silver behaviour
Reconnoitre spirals around
Like ambient sounds clinging
To the atmosphere around, she
Is now free from tears
Years pass days go by
I look up into the moonlight
Sky and ask why do, I cry,
Same mind engulfs our dream
As we embellish our luxurious
Notorious glorious prosperous
Dangerous nervous chorus
And dance together,
The weather in this place
Is powerful still and calming
Enchanting embrace as we
Long for some one to sit back
And relax with we realise we
Need to forgive and give
This love to each others heart,
Time shared conversation trickling
Through the air like fireflies
Lighting up a moonlit sky
And he is now free from what
He has asked why.
We look up into the heavens
And endeavour to embrace all it’s splendour
In a fingertip of instance
And in an instance we realise
We must dance.
