How’s it going? I’ve been reading Gathering Roses.
I’m up to the part where the email exchanges between Nate and Lori go from jokes to something -totally different-. *Giggle!* I blushed so much I had to stop reading! =) Talk to you soon, I hope!

I read “Fruit of the Vine” this morning – if you expand upon it it would make a great “tween” story! I also read about 40 pages of “Gathering Roses” while I waited for my car to be fixed – I really like it so far!

Received the book, and it looks very nice! Started reading it, and you are definitely a good writer:) First impression is it’s very intense, deep and thoughtful. I had to read the last page, b/c I figured you would relate it to John’s passing away a few years ago…and you tied up the story so well..

Congrats from me too! I went to the telegraph online and read the nice author interview they did. Very impressive. Couldn’t find where they reviewed the book though. That was a nice review from Mary. Now I really can’t wait to read it! I will definitely have to make it to the next meeting to see it. yahoo!

I finished “Gathering Roses” on Sunday. I liked it.
It did take me a few chapters to settle in, probably because it’s not my usual style of book. (You’re right, it’s edgy.) But once I got started, I finished it in one sitting. It was well-written, interesting, the characters were well-drawn, and the dialogue was excellent. Excellent book! Anyway, I’m impressed.
I’m not surprised you found a publisher.

I was able to come home a little earlier today. I arrived home to find that your book arrived! YEAH!!!!
I’ve already started reading it – up to page 79…
Now, I understand a little more about some things that you may have alluded to in our conversations. It really is a great read, I am enjoying it so far!!
There is one part of the story line that I can identify with regarding Lori’s hesitations about Paul and the excitement that Nick offers (remember, I am still early in the book). I was once involved with a “Nick”-like character, but realized the relationship was a disaster and very unhealthy.
I can also relate to your experience with the Paul character – I’ve known men who are loving, safe, supportive, encouraging, “good-provider” but there is still a longing for the somewhat “hedonistic” or more creative sexual exploration that is not a natural part of the relationship which is sometimes frustrating.
Is probably more information that you need to know, but is reassuring to me that I am not the only one who may have such feelings.
Anyway, hope you’re having a good week celebrating the publication distribution!

I have just finished your book with your lovely card as my bookmark 🙂 I liked it a whole lot! It is dark and yet light… meaningful and full of sarcasm too… Romance and flirtation and all the angst that goes with it… I would guess reading it that you had written it of all the people I know… I would love to talk to you more about it when you return home and ask, now that I have read it, what parts are you and your friends….. I’m sure everyone wants to know that! Have you gotten good feedback on it?

Just to let you know that I finished the book last night, and thought it was GREAT! Reading it made me feel like I was hanging out with you everyday; I”m kind of sad that I finished it! I really enjoyed reading the Marta parts, the prank phone calls, the fact that she could only contact the guy on-line, and when the other guy said he loved her, but not in love with her. I loved reading the IMs between Lori and Nick and her gut-wrentching feelings toward the push-pull dynamic. The Rutherford emails were very bleak, yet entertaining. And of course, Pista Bakfark! Great work Ellen – I can’t believe after all these years of talking about the book, and your working on it, that’s it’s finally in print!!

I’m enjoying your book so far. I’ve only gotten to just over 100 pages. I like your literary style and prose.
Maybe someday your book will be a best-seller and a movie will be based on it or even a daytime soap opera!!
